In December 2008 Vacci-Test completed the purchase Maxivet Inc., of Saint-Hyacinthe, Quebec, Canada. Maxivet is an approved Level 2 containment facility that provides research and development expertise in alliance with Indicia Biotechnology of France, along with scientific validation of new food safety products. Its primary areas of expertise and responsibility are:
- Validation of new food safety products for the human food chain.
- Production of specific antigens for Vacci-Test's FoodChek™ Products.
- Identification of pathogens for the agri-food market
Maxivet has also developed a test for Salmonella in live swine that is pending approval from the Canadian Food Safety Agency ("CFIA").
